The Mil Folhas Project began in 1996 to reforest a public area of the Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil. Mil Folhas which means a Thousand Leaves, is led by the designer and creator of the Critter Wind-ups, Chico Bicalho. Together with Kikkerland, the ZĂ©Car Flywheel Car came into production for the mission to raise awareness and funds. Since the ZĂ©Car introduction, the royalty funds, and Kikkerlandâs generous contribution boosted the planting of trees from about 20 thousand to more than 320 thousand. Therefore, ZĂ©Car is not only a zero-carbon footprint car but a car that produces massive amounts of oxygen.
